{HHRMA~Bali} Let's participate!!..Bye Bye plastic bags....for the sake of Bali's nature and our world's future..

Written by lowongan kerja on 5:02 PM

Dear All,

The pictures are shocking: Bali's most iconic beaches are littered in heaps of plastic rubbish. It's hard to imagine tourists sunbathing and surfers catching waves amidst the debris, but the monsoon has brought a tidal wave of trash to the island's shores -- and this year, it's worse than ever.

But there's a ray of hope: Activists on the ground say they have wangled a promise from Bali's governor I Made Mangku Pastika -- if they get 1 million signatures, a law banning plastic bags will be introduced. Now it's up to our community to make it happen!

Plastic bag bans work. Several countries already ban or restrict them, including Bangladesh and China, where use fell dramatically. Getting Bali to say bye-bye to the pollution could be the first step in making Indonesia plastic bag free. Sign this petition now and share widely -- when we reach 1 million, Avaaz will deliver the petition on the steps of the governor's office.
Plastic bags are the most widely distributed product in the world, with people using around 500 billion single-use bags across the world per year. They aren't only an unwelcome eyesore -- they also pollute the water and entangle and kill animals. 100,000 ocean animals are said to die from plastic entanglement every year (and those are just the ones that are found), as well as a million sea birds.
Not all of the waste currently invading Bali's beaches is plastic bags -- there's a wider problem with waste management and the pressure increased use of throwaway items puts on the environment. But plastic bags are the most striking example of what needs to change. And with a promise from the Governor to act if enough of us sign up, this is too great an opportunity to miss.

This is what our community does best -- let's show Governor Pastika a wave of support for a plastic bag ban, to counter the wave of plastic trash soiling Bali's shores. Sign this petition now and share widely.
From protecting Aceh's rainforest to ensuring justice for a rape victim in Kenya, to getting Hong Kong to destroy its ivory stockpile, Avaaz members across the world are using the power of citizens' voices to hold decision-makers to account -- achieving more important victories every day. Let's come together again to ensure Bali's plastic promise isn't broken.

This campaign was started by Melati, 12, and Isabel, 10, from Bali on Avaaz's Community Petitions Site. It's easy to start a campaign on an issue you care about -- local, national or global...

Thank you and god bless us...
