I had a lively discussion with Susan Wood, the CEO of SCC Americas, at the Carbon Finance North America Conference last week. SCC Americas is the US arm of Syndicatum Carbon Capital, one of the largest developers of Kyoto based CDM carbon credit projects in the world, and Susan herself has been doing emissions trading for over a decade, after starting out as an environmental engineer. More > The Regenesys flow battery works by storing or releasing electrical energy by means of a reversible electrochemical reaction between two salt solutions—the electrolytes. The electrolytes are pumped through hundreds of individual cells, which are separated by a membrane. More > How did you become interested in cleantech? I grew up in Ithaca where I was exposed to the outdoor environment. I have always been interested on the impacts of humanity on our ecology. After graduation, I started to study renewable energy and energy efficiency. Why solar? It's the most abundant resource available. There's a lot of potential and it coincides with peak usage.
